Why horsetail is a problem in Burton upon Trent
On Burton upon Trent properties, horsetail roots reach two metres down, shrug off most garden weedkillers and push up through lawns, borders and block paving year after year. Burton's brewing heritage left extensive derelict maltings and railway sidings along the River Trent, ideal disturbed ground for knotweed, which now spreads along the Trent and Mersey Canal towpaths and former industrial yards near the town centre.
