Never fence over Japanese knotweed
Digging post holes through a knotweed stand fragments rhizome and drags it along the whole boundary — and if it crosses into a neighbour's garden it can become a private nuisance claim. We screen every boundary before digging and, where knotweed is present, price a root barrier or treatment plan alongside the fence.
Typical fencing costs
Close board fencing is generally £70–£110 per metre installed including concrete posts and gravel boards, panel fencing £55–£85 per metre, and palisade or mesh security fencing £90–£180 per metre depending on height and specification. Removal of old fencing is quoted separately and itemised.
