Why montbretia is a problem in Conwy
On Conwy properties, montbretia corm chains multiply underground and spread along verges, hedgebanks and stream sides, excluding native plants. Around Conwy Castle and the town walls, Conwy's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across North Wales.
