Why rhododendron ponticum is a problem in Bradford
On Bradford properties, rhododendron ponticum forms dense evergreen thickets, shades out woodland ground flora and harbours Phytophthora pathogens that damage nearby trees. Bradford's wool-processing heritage left derelict mill yards and the Bradford Beck's culverted, disturbed banks where knotweed has become widespread, aided by former railway sidings across the city.
