Why stinging nettles is a problem in Bala
On Bala properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Around Bala Lake and the high street, Bala's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across North Wales.
