Where knotweed and site clearance overlap
Redevelopment sites with a history of Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed or other invasive species need their arisings and any contaminated soil kept entirely separate from general construction waste. Mixing rhizome-bearing soil into a general muck-away load risks spreading the plant to the receiving site and is itself a Duty of Care breach — controlled waste containing viable knotweed must be consigned to a facility licensed to accept it. Where we are already treating an invasive species on your site, we plan the segregation and disposal route for that material before groundworks start, alongside your ordinary construction waste stream.
Keeping recovery rates up
Most planning conditions and client contracts now expect a minimum percentage of construction waste diverted from landfill, often 90% or higher for demolition projects. That target is only achievable with disciplined segregation at source — timber, metal, plasterboard and inert rubble kept apart rather than binned together — because once materials are mixed in a general skip, recovery becomes far harder and more expensive at the transfer station.
