Why floating pennywort is a problem in Kidwelly
On Kidwelly properties, floating pennywort grows up to twenty centimetres a day, choking ponds, ditches and slow water and blocking drainage and angling access. Around Kidwelly Castle and the Gwendraeth estuary, Kidwelly's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across South Wales.
