Why giant hogweed is a problem in Aberaeron
On Aberaeron properties, giant hogweed sap causes severe phototoxic burns and long-term light sensitivity, which makes it a genuine safety issue on footpaths, riverbanks and school boundaries. Around the harbour and the coloured Georgian terraces, Aberaeron's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across South Wales.
