Why Himalayan balsam is a problem in Dowlais
On Dowlais properties, Himalayan balsam fires seed up to seven metres, smothers native bankside vegetation and leaves bare soil that erodes into watercourses each winter. Dowlais sits on the northern edge of Merthyr Tydfil, where old ironworks land and tips have carried knotweed for decades.
