Why New Zealand pigmyweed is a problem in Aberystwyth
On Aberystwyth properties, New Zealand pigmyweed tiny fragments regrow into dense mats on pond margins and damp ground, and it spreads on footwear, tyres and machinery. Around the promenade and Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across South Wales.
