Why rhododendron ponticum is a problem in Poole
On Poole properties, rhododendron ponticum forms dense evergreen thickets, shades out woodland ground flora and harbours Phytophthora pathogens that damage nearby trees. Poole's extensive natural harbour and former clay pit workings around the quayside have left disturbed ground where knotweed spreads along the Holes Bay shoreline and old railway embankments.
