Slabbing, Patios & Hard Landscaping

    Slabbing, Paving & Patio Installation

Patios, paths and driveways laid to last — full excavation, compacted MOT sub-base, full mortar bed and correct falls, with every area screened for invasive weeds before a single slab goes down.

    Patio Slabbing

Indian sandstone, porcelain, limestone and riven concrete laid on a full wet bed with primed slabs.

    Block Paving

Driveways and parking bays in block or setts, with edge restraints and kiln-dried jointing sand.

    Paths & Steps

Garden paths, side accesses, steps and level changes built to safe, even risers.

    Drainage & Falls

SuDS-compliant permeable options, ACO channels and falls run away from the building.

    Groundworks & Bases

Excavation, muck away, geotextile membrane and compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base.

    Repairs & Relaying

Sunken, cracked or weed-infested paving lifted, re-bedded and repointed.

    How the works run

    1. 1Survey & designWe measure the area, check levels, drainage and access, then confirm slab type and pattern.
    2. 2Weed screeningThe area is checked for Japanese knotweed, bamboo and horsetail before any excavation begins.
    3. 3Excavate & muck awayDig to depth, remove spoil under waste transfer notes, lay geotextile membrane.
    4. 4Base & layingMOT Type 1 compacted in layers, then slabs laid on a full mortar bed with correct falls.
    5. 5Point & clean downBrush-in or slurry jointing, wash off, and the site left swept and tidy.

    Never pave over Japanese knotweed

Knotweed rhizome pushes through mortar joints and lifts slabs within a single season, and excavating a contaminated base spreads fragments across the whole garden. We survey every area before digging. Where knotweed, bamboo or horsetail is present we price removal, a root barrier or a treatment programme alongside the paving so the finished patio stays flat and clean.

    Typical slabbing and paving costs

Indian sandstone patios are generally £90–£130 per square metre installed, porcelain £120–£170 per square metre including primer and slurry jointing, and block paving driveways £95–£150 per square metre depending on excavation depth and spoil disposal. Existing patio removal, drainage works and root barrier installation are itemised separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Fencing and paving on the same visit

Most boundary and hard landscaping jobs run together. Combining slabbing with fencing, gates or a root barrier means one excavation, one muck-away and one mobilisation — usually a saving against booking the trades separately.
