Why rhododendron ponticum is a problem in Pudsey
On Pudsey properties, rhododendron ponticum forms dense evergreen thickets, shades out woodland ground flora and harbours Phytophthora pathogens that damage nearby trees. Pudsey's former textile mills and the Leeds and Bradford Ring Road's disturbed embankments have allowed knotweed to spread into the town's parks, aided by the nearby Aire Valley railway corridor.
