Why stinging nettles is a problem in Portishead
On Portishead properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Portishead's former dockland and disused power station site along the Bristol Channel shoreline left extensive disturbed brownfield land, which knotweed has colonised alongside the old railway trackbed.
