Why stinging nettles is a problem in Taunton
On Taunton properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Taunton's floodplain along the River Tone and the old Bridgwater and Taunton Canal have provided disturbed, damp corridors where Japanese knotweed thrives, spread further by railway embankments near Taunton station.
