Why creeping and spear thistle is a problem in Kidwelly
On Kidwelly properties, creeping and spear thistle creeping root spreads laterally through pasture and amenity grass, and wind-blown seed carries the problem onto neighbouring land. Around Kidwelly Castle and the Gwendraeth estuary, Kidwelly's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across South Wales.
