Why creeping and spear thistle is a problem in Worthing
On Worthing properties, creeping and spear thistle creeping root spreads laterally through pasture and amenity grass, and wind-blown seed carries the problem onto neighbouring land. Worthing's coastal floodplain and the meandering River Teville, now largely culverted through the town, have created pockets of persistent knotweed, especially around former glasshouse nursery sites once common in the area.
