Why stinging nettles is a problem in Worthing
On Worthing properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Worthing's coastal floodplain and the meandering River Teville, now largely culverted through the town, have created pockets of persistent knotweed, especially around former glasshouse nursery sites once common in the area.
