Why self-reported compliance isn't enough
Most estate owners, port authorities, utility companies and rail infrastructure managers require biosecurity method statements from their contractors as a condition of works, but a method statement is only evidence of intent. We have repeatedly found wash-down stations installed but unused, boot-cleaning kit left in vans, and contaminated arisings loaded onto general haulage vehicles despite a signed protocol saying otherwise. An independent audit, carried out without warning where appropriate, tells you what is actually happening on the ground rather than what was promised in the tender.
High-risk sectors we audit
Ports and marine facilities carry particular biosecurity exposure through ballast water, hull fouling and imported aggregate or timber that can carry invasive non-native species, while rail corridors are recognised as one of the principal vectors for Japanese knotweed spread nationally because ballast and cutting maintenance regularly disturbs established stands.
