Why running bamboo is a problem in Macclesfield
On Macclesfield properties, running bamboo running rhizome crosses boundaries, lifts patios and can enter cavity walls and drains — increasingly the subject of neighbour disputes. Macclesfield's former silk mills along the River Bollin and Macclesfield Canal left disturbed millponds and weirs where Japanese knotweed has taken hold, particularly on the steep, damp banks below the old mill complexes.
