Why running bamboo is a problem in Craigavon
On Craigavon properties, running bamboo running rhizome crosses boundaries, lifts patios and can enter cavity walls and drains — increasingly the subject of neighbour disputes. In Craigavon, Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam spread along the Craigavon Lakes and its tributaries, where floods and riverbank works carry rhizome fragments downstream. Verges and green spaces around River Bann and Oxford Island, along with new housing on the edge of town towards Portadown and Lurgan, are where we most often find established stands.
