Why field horsetail is a problem in Altrincham
On Altrincham properties, field horsetail deep rhizome network infests lawns, borders and paving, and it is toxic to horses on grazing land. Around the market house and the Stamford Quarter, Altrincham's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across Greater Manchester.
