Why giant hogweed is a problem in Bexhill-on-Sea
On Bexhill-on-Sea properties, giant hogweed sap causes severe phototoxic burns and long-term light sensitivity, which makes it a genuine safety issue on footpaths, riverbanks and school boundaries. Around the De La Warr Pavilion and the seafront, Bexhill-on-Sea's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across East Sussex.
