Why ground elder is a problem in Wrexham
On Wrexham properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Wrexham's former coal and steel industries along the River Clywedog left disturbed spoil ground where Japanese knotweed has spread through old railway lines and the Clywedog Valley heritage sites near the town.
