Why ground elder is a problem in Caerphilly
On Caerphilly properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Caerphilly's disturbed ground around its historic castle moat and former colliery sites nearby has allowed knotweed to establish, with further spread along the Rhymney River valley's old rail lines.
