Why horsetail is a problem in Devizes
On Devizes properties, horsetail roots reach two metres down, shrug off most garden weedkillers and push up through lawns, borders and block paving year after year. Devizes' position on the Kennet and Avon Canal, with its famous flight of 29 locks, has left disturbed towpath verges where knotweed spreads through former wharf sites and canal-side warehouses.
