Why stinging nettles is a problem in Devizes
On Devizes properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Devizes' position on the Kennet and Avon Canal, with its famous flight of 29 locks, has left disturbed towpath verges where knotweed spreads through former wharf sites and canal-side warehouses.
