Why New Zealand pigmyweed is a problem in Fleet
On Fleet properties, New Zealand pigmyweed tiny fragments regrow into dense mats on pond margins and damp ground, and it spreads on footwear, tyres and machinery. Around Fleet Pond and the high street, Fleet's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across Hampshire.
