Why rhododendron ponticum is a problem in Wokingham
On Wokingham properties, rhododendron ponticum forms dense evergreen thickets, shades out woodland ground flora and harbours Phytophthora pathogens that damage nearby trees. Wokingham's old market town centre sits near the disturbed floodplain of the Emm Brook, and the former railway sidings and disused brickworks nearby have given knotweed room to establish.
