Why Himalayan balsam is a problem in Wokingham
On Wokingham properties, Himalayan balsam fires seed up to seven metres, smothers native bankside vegetation and leaves bare soil that erodes into watercourses each winter. Wokingham's old market town centre sits near the disturbed floodplain of the Emm Brook, and the former railway sidings and disused brickworks nearby have given knotweed room to establish.
