Why stinging nettles is a problem in Newton Abbot
On Newton Abbot properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Newton Abbot's former railway works and the tidal River Teign estuary have disturbed marshy ground where knotweed has flourished, spreading along the Stover Canal and nearby industrial estates.
