Why ground elder is a problem in Newton Abbot
On Newton Abbot properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Newton Abbot's former railway works and the tidal River Teign estuary have disturbed marshy ground where knotweed has flourished, spreading along the Stover Canal and nearby industrial estates.
