Why stinging nettles is a problem in Gosport
On Gosport properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Around the harbour and the Haslar peninsula, Gosport's mix of gardens, riverbanks, railway corridors and development plots gives invasive and persistent weeds plenty of disturbed ground to colonise, and infestations regularly cross property boundaries across Hampshire.
