Why stinging nettles is a problem in Birmingham
On Birmingham properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Birmingham's dense network of canals, built during the industrial revolution, along with derelict factory sites in Digbeth and old railway sidings, has created ideal conditions for knotweed to spread citywide.
