Why creeping and spear thistle is a problem in Towcester
On Towcester properties, creeping and spear thistle creeping root spreads laterally through pasture and amenity grass, and wind-blown seed carries the problem onto neighbouring land. Towcester sits on the River Tove, and old coaching-inn yards along the historic Watling Street through the town have left disturbed ground where knotweed has spread alongside the river's water meadows.
