Why giant hogweed is a problem in Prestatyn
On Prestatyn properties, giant hogweed sap causes severe phototoxic burns and long-term light sensitivity, which makes it a genuine safety issue on footpaths, riverbanks and school boundaries. Prestatyn's coastal dunes and old railway embankments at the foot of the Clwydian hills left disturbed sandy ground where Japanese knotweed has spread through the Nant Bach stream valley and nearby drainage channels.
