Why ground elder is a problem in Lichfield
On Lichfield properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Lichfield's Minster Pool and old canal wharves near the Wyrley and Essington Canal offer damp, disturbed banks where knotweed thrives, spreading along the Cathedral city's railway corridors and former gravel workings on its outskirts.
