Why rhododendron ponticum is a problem in Ogmore Vale
On Ogmore Vale properties, rhododendron ponticum forms dense evergreen thickets, shades out woodland ground flora and harbours Phytophthora pathogens that damage nearby trees. Ogmore Vale sits on the Ogmore river north of Bridgend, where old colliery sites and the riverside path spread knotweed.
