Why rhododendron ponticum is a problem in Leamington Spa
On Leamington Spa properties, rhododendron ponticum forms dense evergreen thickets, shades out woodland ground flora and harbours Phytophthora pathogens that damage nearby trees. The River Leam runs through the Regency parks of Leamington Spa, and the town's former spa bathhouse sites and canal wharves along the Grand Union Canal have all contributed to persistent knotweed colonies.
