Why stinging nettles is a problem in Caernarfon
On Caernarfon properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Caernarfon's harbourside slate wharves and former railway lines along the Menai Strait left disturbed quayside ground where Japanese knotweed has spread through the old dock area and Seiont riverbanks near the castle.
