Why ground elder is a problem in Caernarfon
On Caernarfon properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Caernarfon's harbourside slate wharves and former railway lines along the Menai Strait left disturbed quayside ground where Japanese knotweed has spread through the old dock area and Seiont riverbanks near the castle.
