Why creeping and spear thistle is a problem in Wisbech
On Wisbech properties, creeping and spear thistle creeping root spreads laterally through pasture and amenity grass, and wind-blown seed carries the problem onto neighbouring land. Wisbech's location on the River Nene amid the drained Fens has left extensive dyke networks and old wharf sites where knotweed spreads easily, aided by the town's long history of river-based trade and industry.
