Why creeping and spear thistle is a problem in Rochdale
On Rochdale properties, creeping and spear thistle creeping root spreads laterally through pasture and amenity grass, and wind-blown seed carries the problem onto neighbouring land. Rochdale's woollen mill legacy and the Rochdale Canal towpath, along with the River Roch's disturbed banks, provide a corridor along which knotweed has spread into the town's hillside parks.
