Why annual meadow grass is a problem in Ely
On Ely properties, annual meadow grass seeds constantly through lawns, paths and beds, pale patches spoiling fine turf and block paving joints. Ely's position on the River Great Ouse amid the drained fenland has left extensive drainage dykes and old riverside wharves where knotweed has become established, spreading readily through the flat, waterlogged terrain.
