Why running bamboo is a problem in Colchester
On Colchester properties, running bamboo running rhizome crosses boundaries, lifts patios and can enter cavity walls and drains — increasingly the subject of neighbour disputes. As Britain's oldest recorded town, Colchester's Roman walls, former garrison land and the River Colne towpaths provide disturbed ground where knotweed rhizomes have spread unchecked through allotments and old railway cuttings.
