Why ground elder is a problem in Ystradgynlais
On Ystradgynlais properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Ystradgynlais sits at the upper end of the Swansea Valley, where former quarry, coal and tinplate land along the River Tawe gave knotweed a stronghold that recurs on disturbed banks toward the Brecon Beacons.
