Why creeping and spear thistle is a problem in Ystradgynlais
On Ystradgynlais properties, creeping and spear thistle creeping root spreads laterally through pasture and amenity grass, and wind-blown seed carries the problem onto neighbouring land. Ystradgynlais sits at the upper end of the Swansea Valley, where former quarry, coal and tinplate land along the River Tawe gave knotweed a stronghold that recurs on disturbed banks toward the Brecon Beacons.
