Why stinging nettles is a problem in Welwyn Garden City
On Welwyn Garden City properties, stinging nettles colonise nutrient-rich and disturbed ground, making verges, play areas and yard margins unusable within a season. Welwyn Garden City's original industrial estates and the River Lea and River Mimram, which pass close to the town, have all contributed to established knotweed colonies on disturbed brownfield land nearby.
