Why floating pennywort is a problem in Towcester
On Towcester properties, floating pennywort grows up to twenty centimetres a day, choking ponds, ditches and slow water and blocking drainage and angling access. Towcester sits on the River Tove, and old coaching-inn yards along the historic Watling Street through the town have left disturbed ground where knotweed has spread alongside the river's water meadows.
