Why ground elder is a problem in Spixworth
On Spixworth properties, ground elder brittle white rhizome regrows from every fragment, so digging alone usually spreads it further through borders and hedge lines. Spixworth's rural setting near disturbed field margins and the old Norwich to Cromer railway line has allowed knotweed to spread along hedgerows and drainage ditches feeding into the River Bure catchment.
